What types of bikes are permitted?

THE RIDE is not a race, so almost any kind of bike that you are comfortable with will work. Unicycle, bicycle, tandem, you name it! If it’s a bike and it’s not motorized, it can #DOTHERIDE

Is there a rain date?

There is no rain date for THE RIDE, however we still have a party planned for that day even if the weather doesn’t permit us to RIDE.

What time does THE RIDE start?

  • 117km = 7:30 a.m.
  • 75km = stay tuned for an update
  • 50km = 10:00 a.m.
  • 25km = stay tuned for an update
  • Virtual = any time you feel like it!

What is the fundraising commitment for this event?

The fundraising minimum for all riders is $750.

How does team fundraising work?

Each RIDE participant needs to raise $750 but your team fundraising total can be shared amongst all members. For example: a team of two needs to raise $1,500; a team of five, $3,750; and a team of 10 needs to raise $7,500. As long as there are enough funds under the team’s total to meet the minimum fundraising commitment of $750 per rider (regardless of who actually raised the amounts), all members of the team can ride on September 8, 2019.

Can I raise funds if I’m not riding in the event?

Yes, you can register and raise funds online or use a pledge form. You could also choose the Virtual Ride option perhaps that would better suit you.

What happens if I don’t raise $750 by September 8, 2019?

All participants must commit to raising $750 by October 31, 2019 to participate. We value your time, effort and determination and are committed to helping you achieve your fundraising goal through tips and online tools communicated regularly with our registered riders. We are also here to ensure that your experience during that day is outstanding by providing refreshing pit stops, a celebration and meal at the end of the day. Ultimately, funds will go toward crucial research taking place at The Ottawa Hospital.

I am holding a bake sale/garage sale/fundraising event. Do you have signage that we could use at the event?

Yes, simply contact us at events@toh.ca or by telephone at 613-798-5555, ext. 19832 to arrange what you need for your fundraising event.

Can my child participate in the ride with me?

Youth aged 14 to 17 on September 8, 2019 may participate in THE RIDE on any of the closed-road routes and must be accompanied by an adult. Although we appreciate the interest of all individuals who would like to participate, we will only be able to accept those who meet the age requirement. If I can no longer participate in the event, can I give my spot to someone else?

Yes, provided you have reached the $750 fundraising minimum. Simply give us a heads up by contacting us at 613-798-5555, ext. 19832 or via email at events@toh.ca.

If I register for the virtual ride, can I still participate in the celebration event?

Yes! All our riders, their family and friends are welcome to THE RIDE celebration on September 8, 2019 at Tunney’s Pasture. Food and beverage tickets will be provided for the riders, while family and friends can purchase tickets on site.

Will you help advertise my fundraising event?
